How
to use the soft?
It is very easy to use this soft. There are two ways to start it.
One: Start it directly from "Desktop" or
"Start", then continue it according to the following:
Step1: Click the "Icons
Source" button which is staying on the top left of the
interface, Chose the executable file or icon file, and then all
the icons in this file will be shown on the "Icon
Canvas".
Step2: Select one of the icon as
the "New Icon", and the "New Icon" will be
shown on the bottom of the interface.
Step3: Click the
"Destination" Button like step 1, then all the icon
files in the executable file will be shown on the "Icon
Canvas".
Step4: Select one of the
destination icons, and it will be drawn on the bottom-right of the
interface.
Step5: Now click the red arrow
button, after some questions the icon will be changed.
Step6: Now go to the windows
explore, look up the executable file. What has happened? If there
is no change, Click here
to see why!
Two: Click any executable file with the mouse right button, then
choose "Replace or Save Icons" from the menu. Right now
the Icon will be shown on the Icon canvas. You can take it as the
Icon source or the destination Icon and later choose the
corresponding destination program or Icon Source. Other steps are
like the above One.

Why
register?
After the register you can have all the functions of this software
and later upgrade it for free. The present icon will appear
normally without black background. And the troublesome
register guidance will disappear as well.
Why
is there no change in windows Explore after the Icon being
changed?
It has something to do with your way of viewing. For example, what
you have changed is the small Icon but what you are viewing is the
big one. So the big icon which is not been changed will appear. It
is also related to the window's principle of showing Icons: the
majority of the color has the priority to appear first. You can
refer to it from Windows Icon
Selection.
After
it being changed, the icon is not transparent but has black
background, why?
Program Icon Changer is a shareware. You only can change
the first Icon freely while other changed Icons have black
background. So register before change please! Do register
now!
Why
can not the executable file be run after its icon being changed?
Because you have changed the icon from a small one to a big one,
and the executable file is not a standard PE format (There is
external data in the back of the executable file). So I don't
support your changed icon from a small size to a big one.
Some executable files do
not support icon tuning (protected EXE): when you run your new
patched file, if it does not work correctly, then delete it and
just rename the backup copy to the original filename. Icons can
only be modified or replaced: you cannot add or remove icons
to/from PE files.
Windows
Icon Selection
windows detects the resolution of the current display and matches
it against the width and height specified for each version of the
icon image. if windows determines that there is an exact match
between an icon image and the current device, it uses the matching
image. otherwise, it selects the closest match and stretches the
image to the proper size. if an icon-resource file contains more
than one image for a particular resolution, windows uses the icon
image that most closely matches the color capabilities of the
current display. if no image matches the device capabilities
exactly, windows selects the image that has the greatest number of
colors without exceeding the number of display colors. if all
images exceed the color capabilities of the current display,
windows uses the icon image with the least number of colors
